Comments about "Who is this mysterious "Charles"?"

My gut tells me the identity of Charles would be one of the persons in the above picture. He would of course have intimate knowledge of TYR as he was in TYR and Ritual Blue for that matter. I think Charles = Warren Demsys. Just a thought. All this nostalgia however, gets me thinking of another band that I was involved with that probably rivals TYR in stinkiness. Rhymes with "useless". The only thing that is different about "useless" is that our shame has been immortalized on video, which will come back to haunt me forever. Man were we terrible.

You mean to say that you know someone named "Noswad" but no one named "Charles"? Hmmm.

I used to own a demo tape of The Young Republicans, but somebody stole it. Can anyone tell me where I might find one?

I also remember Ritual Blue. Do you suppose if they had played at Bud's on Broadway the bikers would have chased them out the back door?

Wonder what these guys might have sounded like if they had been clever enough to hire a violinist to accompany them?

Well. "Useless" was an okay band and their video was one that I'm sure Videofact would like to take their money back for. I definitely liked the scene with Sean's hair blowing in the breeze. Unfortunately, Sean is incorrect in his Warren=Charles deduction. And I'm definitely not in the picture. Maybe this will help..."Sammy You!"

Well, at least I tried!

The band you are referring to Charles, is Greenhouse, which I thought at the time did not suck, I was referring to the wonderful group called "Lusus". We were really terrible. Actually the person responsible for this hot sandwich played bass for us at one time and is even featured in the video mentioned, which was a television expose on the music bidness. If memory serves me correctly, Bret was the only one that came off as a reasonable person.

I am also starting to wonder if Charles does not go by other aliases such as "Ray Orbitson". I'm thinking Charles may very well be Jeff Gantner, who also played in Greenhouse. If I am incorrect, I'm sure Charles will let me know as he is super about that sort of thing.

I stand corrected. I do also recall Lusus. I believe that I witnessed one of their fine gigs at a little venue in Warman. Charles=Jeff...not quite, but you are starting to limit the choices which is a good thing. I could throw out that I was rather inebriated at a number of your wedding festivities Sean. I didn't have too many brew-pies at Bret's wedding, but I did enjoy seeing him in a kilt.

Hi Gary! I thought of that right after I posted. Nice work!

I thought that maybe the "Sammy You" might loosen up a few memories of Lick Joe, Bat Blue, and too many quarters being fed into Violence Fight at 7-11. I figured the whole inebriated comment would probably seal the deal. So, how's tricks?

Posted by Gary at November 24, 2003 03:37 PM

Tricks are good Gary. I will be going home and playing Violence Fight for old times sake on my computer using the fine MAME software. Lick Joe will feel my mighty wrath!

Oops, the blog is getting bogged
Careful that it doesn't become too much like a bleeding harp.
