How to buy an exotic sports car
Practical consumer advice by Bret Dawson.

Once, there was a time when you could just waltz into the shop and ask.

"Please," you'd say, "I would like an exotic sports car."

"Oh," the reply would come, "well, that's terrific. What colour would you like it?"

Here, you would pause.

"Hmmmm," you would say. "Gosh. Um. What colours do you have?"

"Well, there's Brown, naturally," the sales clerk would respond, "plus Orange and also Peach."

"Brown sounds good," you would offer, "but can you tell me the difference between Peach and Orange?"

"Uh, no. Not really. Unfortunately, no one can be told what the difference between Peach and Orange is. You have to see it for yourself."

At this point, the sales clerk would lead you behind the counter and pull a curtain aside, revealing a previously-hidden display of exotic sports cars.

"This one here," the clerk would say, pointing to one of them, "is Orange." Then, finger still pointed at the same exotic sports car, the clerk would speak again.

"And this one is Peach."

Suddenly, in a flash of insight, you would know all you needed to know about shopping for exotic sports cars.

Although, now that you mention it, the other one might not have been Brown. Orange, maybe?
